Ranil Boteju leads HSBC’s Data and Analytics capability to create ‘Intelligent Banking’ for the Wealth and Personal Banking business serving 38 million customers, across 33 markets. He has direct line management accountability for all Data Science & Information Management teams within the Wealth and Personal Banking business. He is accountable for commercialising Big Data and Machine Learning capabilities to enable frictionless customer journeys, differentiated customer experiences, pricing optimisation and automation of back and middle office processes.
Ranil is incredibly interested in the impact of AI and emerging technologies on financial services and the future of banking. But he is comfortable talking/discussing anything AI, big data or ML related, specifically in the financial services sector, but also discussing how the technology can improve customer experiences, as well as our relationships with third party vendors. He has also been involved in research in using machine learning to detect ethical bias in machine learning and using data to help support vulnerable customers.
He joined HSBC in 2012 in Hong Kong and prior to that he led the Analytics functions at Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Ranil has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Marketing, from the University of New South Wales, Sydney.
