As director of social innovation and head of co-creation partnerships for Hitachi Vantara, Nicole Thompson’s contributions optimise energy flows, decarbonise transport and enable smart cities to ensure a more reliable and sustainable world for generations to come. Her work in leading the Optimise Prime innovation consortium is aimed at overcoming technical and commercial challenges and helping shape future policy to help accelerate the transition to electric vehicles and meet climate change objectives. Earlier in her career, she worked for Samsung, Xerox, Unify (formerly Siemens now acquired by Atos), and Oce North America. She has also co-founded and advised various start-ups.
Nicole studied at the University of Minnesota and has participated in programmes at the University of Oxford and the European Energy Centre (EEC). She was also shortlisted as "Innovator of the Year" at the Women of IT Awards 2020.
