SPEAKER PROFILE

Caroline Louveaux is the Chief Privacy Officer for Mastercard. She is leading the global team responsible for ensuring that privacy and data protection are addressed in all business processes that collect, use or disclose personally identifiable information about our cardholders, customers, partners and employees. She is creating and driving strategy across the four key pillars of the Mastercard’s global privacy program: Compliance, Privacy by Design, Regulatory, and Training & Development.
Caroline is a sought after speaker at public forums globally. She is a member of the Advisory Board and a lecturer for the new “Certified DPO education” program at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. She is also a Member of the Summer School Faculty of the EU Data Protection Law Summer School, and a lecturer at the CRIDS DataSafe “DPO certification” program. In addition, Caroline is the co-chair of the EU GDPR group of the Information Accountability Foundation (“IAF”) and a member of the GDPR Steering Committee of the Centre of Information Policy & Leadership (“CIPL”). Caroline is Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) as well as Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM – IAPP).
Prior to joining Mastercard in 2007, Caroline worked in private practice, where she specialized in EU and Competition Law. She also worked at the CRID, a well-known research center for computer and law in Belgium, where she performed legal research in the area of new technologies.
Caroline holds a law degree from the U.C.L. (Belgium) and U.B.A. (University of Buenos Aires, Argentina) and a LLM degree in International Trade Regulation from the New York University (NYU). Caroline is admitted to the NY Bar.
