Director
SPEAKER PROFILE
Caroline is a respected, inspirational and fun leader who is passionate about improving data literacy and is an internationally acknowledged data cheerleader. A recognised expert in all aspects of data management, data transformation and enabling business strategy through data. She is regularly asked to speak at events both in the UK and internationally as she puts a human face on what can be seen as a ‘dry’ and difficult subject.
Caroline has worked across multiple industries in strategic data and IT roles, most recently she was the first Group Director of Data at Lowell Group and the first Chief Data Officer for Network Rail. In both roles she started building the data capability from the ground up, delivering real change to each organisation around how they valued their data as an asset. Her engaging, practical and pragmatic approach means that, while understanding and leading strategic change, she can bring people on the journey with her.
Caroline is a recognised global data leader who is sought after for international speaking engagements. As well as co-authoring the renowned ‘The Chief Data Officer’s Playbook’ described as ‘a must read for the data leader’ (with Peter Jackson) she is currently working on her next book (also with Peter) ‘Data-Driven Business Transformation’ to be published by Wiley Q1 2019.
Caroline is a Director at Carruthers and Jackson, a company set up to improve data literacy and help companies understand how to treat their data as an asset. The new DataTalks conferences, The Chief Data Officer’s Summer School and work with various clients around their data strategies are examples of Carruthers and Jackson projects.
